Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features text commentary for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six of the football calendar , after last week's discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests were the amount of penalties both committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they kind of defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this Sunday.

But it was good to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have that deficit before direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said during a show how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year well then excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up big and new RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows that Denver represent a team that wants to run first, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in positive situations.

This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs have powerful arms to pass all over, but they lack in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His assets are his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver precision throws over the middle or past defenders.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you consistently run the ball it eats up time and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defence must cover the field downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really develop him how he desires to build it. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and has passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this path.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win any game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.

It depends on what version of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
