The Celtic boss insisted he was not afraid of the sack, claiming, “The team is very near to things turning around,” in the wake of sliding worryingly close to the chopping block with a convincing loss to Rangers.

Another Collapse Sees Old Firm Defeat

Celtic had led the visitors at the interval but a second-half capitulation let Rangers to pull level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was brought in from the MLS, has now presided over six losses in his last eight fixtures.

“The standard we had at stages was exceptionally high. That is a fact. I could not say that if it was not the case. But that’s why, in terms of results, I mentioned we've seen this before. That’s why I feel we are really close to a shift in fortunes. Right now: small things.”

“I saw a lot of encouraging signs that we did, as was the case today. However it’s about sustaining it. My message would change if it was not the case. This is why I am a big believer we will manage to turn things around.”

The Rangers Boss Stance

Rangers manager played down talk of a title charge despite what seemed like a landmark win. “Step by step, so we can gradually build a challenge,” he said. “The confidence in the team is immense.”
