Arne Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the team's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
